The properties of a cotton filter can be summarised as follows:

Permeability: the filter must present as little of an obstacle as possible to allow the highest possible air flow

Shielding: all foreign bodies in the air must be retained
Retention: retention of all solid particles
Cotton filters can be reused several times after being washed with a special detergent and re-oiled.
